Es un antimicrobiano potencializado resultante de la acción sinérgica que se produce al combinar sulfamonometoxina y trimetoprim.
Es de primera elección en el tratamiento de las enfermedades infecciosas causadas por bacterias grampositivas, gramnegativas y algunos protozoarios.
Es una sulfonamida de rápida absorción y de lenta excreción. La absorción y biodisponibilidad por vÃa oral es completa y rápida.
Su acción a nivel sanguÃneo es prolongada.
No hay cristaluria ni daño renal, por lo cual no es tóxica. Tiene alta solubilidad en agua.

Daimetoprim:
-Aves: Para el control de infecciones respiratorias y digestivas como: Colibacilosis, pasteurelosis, salmonelosis, coccidiosis, enfermedad crónica respiratoria y reacciones posvacunales.
-Cerdos: Para el control de infecciones respiratorias y digestivas por Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, neumonÃa por Pasteurella spp, rinitis atrófica, colibacilosis, coccidiosis, salmonelosis, sÃndrome mastitis-metritis-agalactiae y toxoplasmosis. Como terapia de apoyo previo y durante manejos y vacunaciones.
-Bovinos: Como tratamiento en las afecciones de la fiebre de embarque, diarrea negra (coccidia) y diarreas por E. coli. Como terapia antibacteriana en las diarreas y afecciones respiratorias de los bovinos jóvenes y adultos.
