Es un antiparasitario que pertenece al grupo bencimidazólico de antihelmÃnticos; los elementos de este grupo que poseen un sustituyente carbamato, resultan de mayor potencia antihelmÃntica y presentan un espectro más amplio por lo que su eficacia es de 95% frente a estadios juveniles y maduros.
La acción antiparasitaria se debe a la inhibición de la energÃa metabólica en el parásito, actuando sobre la captación de la glucosa por los parásitos.
No es tóxico, es insaboro y puede administrarse sin ningún riesgo, aun en hembras gestantes ya que no es teratogénico.
Por su efecto ovicida evita reinfestaciones.
